Pool firm sees improve in demand
LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) – Since Governor Andy Beshear announced pools in Kentucky would not open this summer, pool companies across the area have seen an influx of calls.
Aurora Pools of Lexington has sold nearly 100 pools online and over the phone, which is unusual for this time of year.
“We normally do between 300 and 400 above-ground pools and 50 to 70 on the floor, we can’t do more than that of our critical mass. And this year at least we will,” said owner Scott Farmer.
In order to comply with CDC guidelines, Aurora Pools closed its showroom and only booked one appointment per hour. The owner says a pool is bought at almost every appointment.
“Our sales were of course a little down. It hurt patio furniture and the like where people can’t come into the store,” Farmer said. “But when it comes to pools and spas, the demand goes through the roof. Nobody goes on vacation, everyone stays home.”
The store’s curb service will continue until Memorial Day Weekend.
